Author Guideline

Modern Insights in Literature, Arts & Linguistics (MILAL) welcomes high-quality submissions from scholars, critics, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of literature, arts, and linguistics. To ensure consistency, transparency, and smooth processing of manuscripts, authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below:

1. Submission Format

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word format (.doc/.docx).
  • Text should be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Headings and subheadings must be used consistently to organize the manuscript.

2. Word Limit

  • Full-length manuscripts should be between 4,000–8,000 words (excluding references, tables, figures, and appendices).
  • Short communications, creative reflections, or book reviews should not exceed 3,000 words.

3. Abstract & Keywords

  • Each submission must include an abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the purpose, framework, methodology/approach (if applicable), key findings or arguments, and conclusions.
  • The abstract should be followed by 4–6 keywords that capture the essence of the paper.

4. Authorship Policy

  • A maximum of 3 authors is allowed per manuscript.
  • Exceptions for additional authors may be considered in cases of collaborative, interdisciplinary work.
  • The corresponding author must clearly provide full contact details (institutional affiliation, email address).

5. Referencing Style

  • Authors are required to follow the APA (7th Edition) referencing style.
  • All in-text citations must strictly correspond to the reference list.
  • References should be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted.

(Note: Authors in literature or arts disciplines may, with editorial approval, use MLA 9th Edition if the nature of the work requires it. However, APA is the standard style for submissions.)

6. Figures, Tables & Illustrations

  • Figures, images, graphs, and tables must be of high resolution and clearly legible.
  • They must be numbered consecutively, each with a descriptive title and source (if applicable).
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used.

7. Types of Submissions Accepted

MILAL publishes a wide range of scholarly contributions, including:

  • Research Articles – Original, analytical, or empirical studies in literature, arts, and linguistics.
  • Review Papers – Comprehensive evaluations and critiques of existing scholarship.
  • Case Studies – In-depth analyses of texts, performances, artworks, or linguistic phenomena.
  • Theoretical/Conceptual Papers – Articles focusing on theoretical models, frameworks, or conceptual debates.
  • Creative Works / Short Communications / Book Reviews – Shorter contributions presenting reflections, artistic interpretations, or reviews of recent publications.

8. Language & Style

  • Submissions must be written in clear, academic English.
  • Authors should ensure accuracy, coherence, and grammatical correctness.
  • Manuscripts should be proofread before submission; professional editing is recommended where necessary.

9. Ethical Considerations

  • All submissions must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics Policy.
  • Research involving human participants, interviews, or cultural documentation must indicate compliance with relevant ethical standards and institutional approval, where applicable.

10. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system (OJS platform).
  • Each manuscript will be acknowledged upon receipt and processed under the double-blind peer review policy.
