Archiving & Digital Preservation Policy
Modern Insights in Literature, Arts & Linguistics (MILAL) is fully committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. The journal ensures that scholarly works remain permanently available, citable, and securely archived for future generations of researchers, educators, and practitioners.
Preservation Mechanisms
To safeguard the scholarly record, MILAL adopts the following preservation strategies:
1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN):
- The journal participates in the PKP Preservation Network, which provides decentralized and distributed preservation using the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system.
- This ensures that articles remain securely stored, even in cases of technical failures or website downtime.
2. Institutional and Subject Repositories:
- Authors are encouraged to deposit published articles in institutional repositories (e.g., university libraries) and subject-specific repositories.
- Such deposits enhance visibility, discoverability, and long-term archiving.
3. Permanent DOI Assignment:
- Every published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure persistent access and reliable citation.
- DOIs remain valid regardless of any future changes to the journal’s website or hosting platform.
4. Multiple Storage Systems:
- All content is securely stored on the journal’s primary server, with scheduled backups on secondary servers to prevent data loss.
- Articles are archived in multiple formats (PDF, XML) to ensure compatibility with evolving technologies.
Commitment to Accessibility
Through these mechanisms, MILAL guarantees that its scholarly output will remain permanently accessible, citable, and discoverable, thereby contributing to the sustainable global dissemination of knowledge.
